Celebrity Kids That Dress Like Their Parents

Celebrity Kids That Dress Like Their Parents
So what do you do when you win the genetic lottery? Raid mom’s closet.
That’s what 13-year old Kaia Gerber has been doing lately, modeling for her brother Presley (an aspiring photographer) in gowns borrowed from her mother Cindy Crawford.
In one Instagram shot, Gerber wears a Roberto Cavalli gown mom wore to a red carpet event in 2003, back when Kaia was a toddler. In another shot, Gerber (a spitting image of her mother) jumps on a trampoline in a Calypso St. Barth dress her mom donned for a commercial.

Kaia’s in good company. Earlier this year, model Sailor Brinkley Cook (Christie’s daughter) confessed to Teen Vogue: “When I was young, my best friend and I would try on [my mom’s] clothes and make little videos with her high heels. Little did we know how sacred those Christian Louboutins are!”

They’re not the only ones pilfering from their famous mothers’ walk-ins. Ivanka Trump recently posted a pic of herself in one of her mother Ivana’s blinged out Bob Mackie gowns. While pictures of Ivana in the dress look decidedly Ab Fab, Ivanka made the dress look modern with sleek hair and simple makeup.
Curiously, it’s not always mom’s glam wardrobe that’s the most coveted. When Ireland Baldwin was asked if she ever borrowed clothes from Kim Bassinger, she said it was actually dad Alec Baldwin’s dresser she’d raided. “My dad is very fond of his Massapequa High School sweatshirt, which I’ve had for three years now. He definitely wants that back.”

Of course, for the under 10 set, dressing like mom isn’t always a choice. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have apparently made it their mission to turn baby North into a fashion plate. The tot, who turned one this past summer, is regularly pictured in head-to-toe black, lace, leather, and the monochromatic looks Kardashian West now seems to favor. Kim swears North abhors pink.

Of the ubiquitous mini me phenomenon, style expert and author Simon Doonan says, “Everyone needs an acolyte. And If you can’t have an acolyte then the next best thing is to BE somebody else’s.”
So what does North think of it all? In Elle, Kardashian West said her daughter had expressed her love for fashion by scribbling on one of mom’s Birkin bags. “I had thought it was this new artist who had painted this purse [but] it was my daughter. It was amazing.” Kardashian wore the purse out earlier this week, and as charming as the moment was, we couldn’t help but wonder if it was North’s way of rebelling.
Sometimes, looking like your famous mom is a mixed blessing.
